The United Kingdom (UK) is currently in a state of crisis. Not only is the UK facing uncertainties in the Brexit trade agreement but the death rate from Covid-19 has recorded a sharp increase. UK Health officials today warned and called for swift action before the same thing happens again.
The United Kingdom has so far become the first European country to record the largest number of deaths due to Covid-19 and the fifth largest in the world. Recently, Covid-19 cases have risen to at least 6,000 cases per day in Britain. The number of patients admitted to the hospital doubled every 8 days.
Chris Whitty who is the chief medical officer of the administration has warned that if the spread of the epidemic is not curbed quickly, then it is not impossible that positive cases will reach 50,000 new cases every day by mid-October.
The statement was issued ahead of an emergency meeting (COBRA) on Tuesday which will be chaired by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss further measures to combat the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.
The market focus will be on the outcome of the COBRA meeting and the administrative response to the Covid-19 issue that has arisen.
