Who would have thought that the incident of the murder of a South Korean official by the North Korean army yesterday had something to do with COVID-19.

South Korea's national security adviser said the shooting was part of measures to address the spread of the coronavirus.

Regretting the reckless incident finally prompted the North Korean government, Kim Jong-un to apologize to all South Korean citizens in a letter sent to South Korean President Moon Jae-in today.

He described the incident as unexpected and inappropriate and promised to punish the parties involved.

At the same time, Jong-un's action of apologizing to Jae-in, which outside of his usual attitude also raises speculation if the tensions between the two regions have the potential to return to clarity.

Based on the victim's further report, the 47-year-old was shot more than 10 times after refusing to reveal his identity and trying to escape during interrogation.

Worried if the victim carries the COVID-19 outbreak, the North Korean army burns the victim along with the buoys used by the victim at sea.
