Russia Blocks Binance?

Authorities in Russia have allegedly blacklisted Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange center because its domain is currently on the list of banned websites in the country. On September 24, Binance officially announced that Russian telecommunications company Roskomnadzor had listed the site in a list of platforms that disseminated prohibited information.

According to the announcement, Binance has been included in the list due to the distribution of data related to the acquisition of digital currencies such as Bitcoin (BTC). According to Gleb Kostarev, head of Binance operations for Russia and the CIS told the exchange announced the news as soon as the exchange center received a notification from Roskomnadzor.

Even if the domain is on the list of banned websites, Russians can still access it without additional tools such as a VPN.

In a public announcement, Binance executives stressed that they had not received information about the sanctions before September 24.

Even so, the move did not deter Binance's plans to launch a crypto debit card in Russia.

In fact, Roskomnadzor also blocked BestChange.ru, a major cryptocurrency website in Russia that provides aggregator services of around 400 local crypto exchange sites.
