The New York Times reported that the President of the United States (US), Donald Trump only paid the Federal income tax of around the US $ 750 in 2016, the same year he won the presidential election.
The New York Times, which has earned Trump and several of its corporate tax records over the past two decades, also claims Trump has not paid his income tax 10 times in the last 15 years.
The news agency reported that the possibility was due to the fact that Trump companies suffered losses.
Trump, however, denied the allegations and described the report as fake news.
"Actually I pay taxes, but you will only be able to see as soon as the tax return is returned," he told reporters after the New York Times report was published yesterday.
According to The New York Times, they have been looking at Trump-related tax returns and companies owned by the Trump Organization since the 1990s as well as his personal tax returns in 2016 and 2017.
The news agency claimed that Trump only paid an income tax of US $ 750 in 2016 and the same amount in 2017 only.
The Trump Organization also denied the allegations.
Meanwhile, Trump Organization Chief Legal Officer Alan Garten said most of the facts reported were inaccurate.
"Over the past decade, Trump has paid tens of millions of dollars for his personal taxes to the Federal government, including paying millions of dollars in personal taxes since he announced his candidacy in 2015," Garten said.
In 2018, Trump said he had earned the US $ 434.9 million but The New York Times disputed the matter and claimed Trump's tax return record showed he suffered a loss of US $ 47.4 million.
The New York Times also claims most of Trump's big business, such as golf courses and hotels, record losses of about tens of millions each year.
