The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin hinted that the government will focus on combating the Covid-19 pandemic in the 2021 Budget which will be tabled on November 6.

He said as a concerned government, his party would take additional measures accordingly in the annual budget to restore the lives of the people.

“We, the concerned National Alliance (PN) government will take the appropriate additional measures. Previously, RM305 billion has been used and the 2021 Budget will focus on controlling the Covid-19 pandemic so that it does not spread.

“So far we have spent almost RM2 billion for the Ministry of Health while for Sabah alone, with the great Covid-19, about RM400 million has been spent in the last few weeks, involving food aid sent to homes and medical equipment , ”He said as quoted by Bernama.

He stressed that the government is committed to fighting Covid-19 in the next budget and at the same time will continue to help the people affected by the pandemic.

“The government needs to provide a stimulus package that is assistance to the people because there are groups that are severely affected. If in the past when the Movement Control Order (PKP) was introduced, there were those who applied to withdraw savings in the second account of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), now there are those who apply to withdraw savings in the first account.

"The savings are for our old age. If the government allows this to be done, the brothers and sisters will face other problems. The government has provided billions of ringgit. Next time do not ask, I will go out billions more to help the people. " he said again.

He also acknowledged that the government was currently experiencing difficulties in balancing the lives of the people affected by the pandemic, and at the same time should work to save the country's severely affected economy.

"Our problem is when the economy reopens, people start moving here and there to restore their economy and business. Now it is quite difficult for the government to balance between the lives of the people and the efforts to save the economy due to that factor.

"The government needs to allow the economic sector to resume normal operations, but at the same time needs to curb the spread of Covid-19 with certain restrictions. This is a difficult thing, ”he added.
