U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed he and his wife, Melania, are positive for Covid-19 and are currently undergoing quarantine.
The news was conveyed himself through his official Twitter page just now.
The 74-year-old Trump and Melania, 50, are categorized as ‘high-risk patient groups’.
Earlier, Trump's top adviser Hope Hicks also confirmed positive for Covid-19 after attending a presidential debate in Cleveland on Tuesday.
At the event, several members of the Trump family were seen not wearing face masks. Trump had previously issued an order not to make it mandatory to wear face masks in public.
According to Sean Conley who is a physicist to Trump in a statement, Trump and his wife are in good shape and they plan to sit at home at this time.
"Do not worry because I expect Trump will continue to carry out his duties without any interruption while undergoing rehabilitation and I will continue to keep you informed of any updates," the statement said.
Following the news, the second Presidential debate event which was supposed to take place on October 15 is likely to be postponed to an unspecified date.
The US has so far recorded over 200,000 deaths from Covid-19.
