The highest adviser to US President Donald Trump, Hope Hicks, tested positive for Covid-19 and experienced symptoms of the virus.
The matter was revealed by an unidentified source yesterday.
Hicks often accompanies Trump and several senior officials on each official visit in addition to following Trump to the Presidential debate last Tuesday and the election campaign in Minnesota last Wednesday. Hicks reportedly did not wear a face mask during the Presidential debate.
Trump himself confirmed the matter and informed that he and his wife have undergone a screening test and are awaiting test results.
"He was tested positive. He was a hard worker, often wearing a face mask but found positive. I just underwent a test, we'll see how later. Whether we need to be quarantined or not, it is still unknown, "Trump said in an interview with Fox News lawyer Sean Hannity yesterday.
Trump has been heavily criticized for his response to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has now killed more than 200,000 people in the US alone.
He and his staff are often seen not wearing face masks and Trump despises those who wear face masks.
Health experts say the use of face masks is one of the important steps to help prevent the spread of the virus.
The White House administration reportedly did not conduct a temperature check for anyone entering the building's premises over the past few months.
In addition to Hicks, U.S. national security adviser Robert O’Brien; Press secretary to Vice President Mike Pence, Katie Miller and Donald Trump Jr.'s girlfriend Kim Gulfoyle were also found positive.
