Tourists coming to the UK can reduce the quarantine period alone from 14 days usually to just 5 days starting next month if the Covid-19 test is conducted negatively.
This move is part of a strategy towards a broader economic opening. According to a UK administrative statement, the 5-day quarantine policy will be effective from 15 December. Outdoor tourists are required to undergo a Covid-19 test and then isolation for 5 days. If an individual is found negative for Covid-19 then the individual is allowed to visit the UK.
While all of this is not free, tourists will have to bear the cost of their own Covid-19 test which ranges from £ 65 to £ 120.
Among the factors that prompted the UK administration to take this step was due to pressure from airlines since the 'lockdown' was withdrawn in May. The tourism and aviation sectors are of the opinion that their economic development is stunted as the quarantine process applied prevents people from traveling in the UK.
In addition, the UK government will also break the rules that prevent the entry of foreign tourists into the UK except for work on 2 December. Some analysts believe that this step is an initial step towards the development of the tourism industry and it can increase public confidence.
Finally, only countries on the UK government-issued list are allowed to visit the UK. The list of countries is based on the current situation that hit a country.
