Bursa Malaysia Recovers Ahead Of US Presidential Election

 Bursa Malaysia rose from yesterday's decline to open higher today after US stocks recorded an overnight gain.


As of 9.05am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) market index index rose 4.23 points to 1,470.69 after opening 2.65 points higher at 1,469.11.


Gainers outnumbered losers by 305 to 94, while 228 counters were unchanged, 1502 untraded and 19 others suspended.


Bernama reported a turnover of 404.82 million worth RM139.99 million.


The increase in the market barometer was largely contributed by Top Glove, which rose eight sen to RM8.47, Tenaga rose six sen to RM9.66 and Axiata added three sen to RM3.03.


Public Bank rose four sen to RM14.96 and Maybank added one sen to RM7.02.


Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd said US shares rose again ahead of today's US Presidential election.


"In this regard, we are confident that the regional market will maintain its upward trend.


"At the local level, we expect the FBM KLCI to record an increase again today after declining over the past few days," he said in a research note.


As such, the research firm said it expects buyers to emerge with a market indication index likely to test the 1,490 level today.


The most profitable counters were led by Malaysian Pacific Industries which added 52 sen to RM22.00, Supermax Corporation rose 18 sen to RM9.09, Unisem rose 16 sen to RM5.58 and Tomei Consolidated rose 14 sen to 92 sen.


For active stocks, XOX rose one sen to 13.5 sen, GD Express added 4.5 sen to 53.5 sen, P.A. Resources and Luster Industries, rose half a sen to 10 sen and 16 sen, respectively.


On the index board, the FBM Emas Index rose 45.56 points to 10,607.59, the FBMT 100 Index rose 43.01 points to 10,426.59 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index added 65.51 points to 12,751.49.


FBM 70, rose 107.92 points to 13,848.71 and FBM ACE rose 102.62 points to 9,649.02.


The Financial Services Index rose 19.54 points to 11,977.74, the Industrial Products and Services Index rose 0.60 points to 142.25 and the Plantation Index added 3.89 points to 6,834.39.
