Good news for the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributors when the government agrees to expand the i-Sinar program to all its members.
According to the Minister of Finance, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, the move was made after his party heard the people's complaints on social media as well as demands from politicians.
He said this during the closing session of the policy-level 2021 Supply Bill (RUU) debate debate for his ministry in the Dewan Rakyat today.
A total of 8 million EPF contributors are now eligible to withdraw their money up to RM10,000 compared to RM6,000 previously, involving an allocation of up to RM70 billion.
Previously, the program was only subject to members who lost their jobs, were given unpaid leave, those who had no source of income and formal sector workers who were unable to contribute for 2 consecutive months.
