The United States Department of Commerce (US) has insisted on defending the executive order against the operation of the short video sharing application, TikTok in the country following a Federal judge's decision to stop the order.

According to Reuters, Judge Wendy Beetlestone blocked the order, which will take effect on November 12 last Friday.

Beetlestone orders the Department of Commerce not to block any storage of TikTok data in the US, content delivery services and other technical transactions.

The Commerce Department yesterday informed that it will comply with the order but still wants to defend the executive order and will try to challenge the court order

According to Beetlestone, the personal statement of US President Donald Trump's administration on the national security threat posed by TikTok is a mere hypothesis.

Previously, Trump had repeatedly stated that TikTok was used to steal user data in the US, thus inviting security threats against the country.

The Beetlestone decision also blocked a ban on downloading the app through the app store.

On September 27, Judge Carl Nichols issued an injunction to stop the Commerce Department from removing TikTok from the Google and Apple app stores.

Nichols is expected to hold a hearing on Wednesday on other aspects of the executive order.

Negotiations are reportedly still underway to finalize an initial agreement between Walmart Inc and Oracle Corp to take over TikTok in the US.
