After this you may no longer be able to stalk the Twitter account of the President of the United States (US), Donald Trump because his account will be deleted immediately. That too if the presidency he holds turns to Joe Biden, his Democratic rival.
From Wednesday to Thursday, it was reported that Twitter had flagged Trump's account seven times for uploading false information and misleading allegations about the election.
As a result, several members of the Democratic Congress and non-partisan organizations Lawyers ’Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and Common Case demanded Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to block the president’s account for allegedly violating the company’s civic integrity policy.
"They are trying to STEAL the election." one of Trump’s tweets uploaded on November 4th.
Democratic Congressman David Cicilline described the tweet as a "threat to democracy".
The amount of Trump abuse on social media is actually strong enough to block Trump's account either temporarily or permanently. However, the figure is ‘safe’ due to the public interest exclusion policy outlined by Twitter.
For now Trump’s Twitter account meets all three criteria of public interest; 1. Verified account, 2. has over 100,000 followers, and 3. The account owner is a candidate or current political office holder.
This means, based on the third criterion, that if Trump resigns from the presidency or leaves politics automatically the figure will no longer be protected by the set policy for violating social media rules.
Until now, Twitter has not given any comments.
