Kenanga Research perpetuating 'neutral' advice to the telecommunications sector as well as the need for 5G technology under the Country Digital Network (JENDELA) initiative in this country may be less important at present.

In his inquiry note today, Kenanga said that realizing stronger principles would increase the supply of national 5G technology and allow smoother implementation.

"Following efforts to make the series more comprehensive, it is possible for us to see a better offer in the future," he said as quoted by Bernama.

Telecom Malaysia (TM) remains as Kenanga's choice in this sector, seeing as fixed line / broadband continues to persist against high price competitiveness for mobile services.

"TM seeks to play an important role in the implementation of the 5G chain, supported by an expanding fiber chain to support its recovery," the firm said again.

Meanwhile, CGS-CIMB Research is also reiterating its' neutra'l rating of local telco as it witnesses weak data handling and yield growth prospects for mobile operators for the 2020 and 2021 financial years.

"The subsequent reduction for the bulk levels of the Mandatory Standard Regarding Access Pricing (MSAP) is felt to be impossible to see Suruhanjaya Communication and Multimedia Malaysia (MCMC) satisfied with their efforts during fiber broadband services.

"We believe MCMC's pragmatic approach through JENDELA is positive for Malaysian telco," he said.
