China's local media, Global Times, expressed optimism that relations between the United States (US) and China could be restored following Joe Biden's victory during last weekend's presidential election.

According to the Global Times, the issue of trade could serve as a starting point for the relationship to be restored.

Clearly the Global Times, reviving trade negotiations is critical to restoring misunderstandings and mistrust in bilateral relations.

The media added that Beijing should strive to communicate with the Biden administration in the future, despite acknowledging that the US would not ease the pressure on the Xinjiang and Hong Kong issues.

The previous Donald Trump administration created tensions in relations between the two countries, especially after implementing a strategy that put pressure on China, thus causing a gap in US-China policy.

Tensions between the two world economic powers have intensified over the past year, shaking the supply chain of technology and trade relations as well as raising concerns that a US-China financial war is imminent.

"We believe that the gap between the two countries can be restored. Citizens of both countries and the international community want US relations to be under control.

"China must also be a country that cannot be oppressed by the US or is unstable, and working with China is the best option for the US to realize its national interests," the Global Times said.
