Italian competition authorities today have revealed that they have fined Apple € 10 million for misleading claims about the waterproof properties of various iPhone models.

This is because the US tech giant allegedly did not explain that the feature only applies to certain conditions, especially in laboratory tests with static and clean water and not under normal use conditions.

In addition, the issue involves promotional claims related to the iPhone 8 model, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11pro and iPhone 11 pro Max.

In addition, authorities also claim that Apple guarantees that the smartphone does not cover damage caused by liquids. Therefore, it is considered as confusing to consumers.

Not only that! Apple's refusal to provide warranty service when the iPhone model in question is damaged by liquids is an aggressive commercial practice.

Following that, the authorities have decided to impose a fine of € 10 million on Apple Distribution International and Apple Italia.
