Shares of MyEG Services Bhd jumped 13.26% to the highest level since May 2018 this morning after the company partnered with Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co Ltd (Zhifei) to obtain a halal certification for the Covid-19 vaccine produced by the Chinese firm and distribute the vaccine concerned exclusively in the country for three years.
At 10.30am, MyEG saw its shares increase by 24 sen to RM2.05.
In a statement issued by MyEG today, the company informed that both firms have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and agreed to work together to conduct a clinical trial of the Covid-19 Phase 3 vaccine in Malaysia and obtain a halal certificate from the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) .
According to MyEG, the implementation of the Phase 3 test will make the vaccine produced by Zhifei as the only vaccine that undergoes the final phase test in Malaysia under the management of the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Zhifei is a subsidiary of Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products Co Ltd and has been involved in the biological products industry since 2002, especially the production of vaccines for humans.
The company is one of five Chinese firms conducting Phovid-19 Phase 3 clinical trials in several locations around the world.
If the Phase 3 test is successful, MyEg will be the only vaccine distributor in the country.
Currently, MyEG also operates a one-stop portal for Covid-19 inspections for employees in the country, including data sharing collaboration with the Department of Manpower Peninsular Malaysia.
