Germany has blocked the acquisition of IMST satellite and radar technology company by a missile manufacturer subsidiary, China Aerospace and Industry Group (CASIC) as a result of today's national security issues.
However, a spokesman for the German economy ministry declined to reveal the name of the company.
However, the cabinet has given permission to the ministry in a closed-door meeting to screen and block foreign investment by non-European investors on the grounds that the move could pose a threat to national security.
However, an IMST spokesperson declined to comment on the issue.
For all intents and purposes, IMST, based in the western city of Kamp-Lintfort in North Rhine-Westphalia, has specialized expertise in satellite and radar communications and is a supplier of German armed forces.
