Indonesia is keen to provide a rocket launch site for space travel, SpaceX by Tesla company Elon Musk.
According to Reuters, the country is currently in talks with Tesla on the cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Maritime and Investment Affairs, President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has consulted with Musk.
The National Aeronautics and Space Institute (LAPAN) has planned to build its first space base in Biak, Papua archipelago.
The development of large-scale aerospace requires international investors and SpaceX is one of Indonesia's potential partners.
The ministry added that Musk would send his team next month to investigate the investment potential.
One of the things that will also be discussed later is to build a factory in Central Java because Indonesia is rich in copper, nickel and tin as well as aspiring to be the largest manufacturer of electric vehicle batteries in the world.
“Nickel is the biggest challenge for high capacity and long-distance batteries! Australia and Canada do very well. Nickel production in the US is objectively very severe. Indonesia is great! ” said Musk via Twitter earlier this year.
