The U.S. government yesterday confirmed that their computer network has faced cyber attacks. According to a report, at least 2 departments have been targeted by Russian hackers.

In this regard, the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency has collaborated with their agency partners on newly detected activities in the government network.

In addition, the attack was also linked to last week's incident against cyber security firm FireEye, which revealed that their defense systems had been compromised by expert hackers who stole equipment used to test a customer's computer system. Following this, they suspected that the attack was sponsored by the government.

According to a report, the FBI is rumored to be investigating a group working for Russia's foreign intelligence service, SVR, and the hacking has been going on for months.

Even more shocking is that the same group was also reported to have hacked US government agencies during the Obama administration.

However, the Russian embassy in the US denied the allegations and described it as baseless.

He added that the activities were contrary to the principles of Russian foreign policy, national interests and affected relations between countries.
