Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blocked Democrats' immediate action to increase stimulus payments to Americans by an additional $ 1,400.
McConnell objected to a motion proposed by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to unanimously agree on a check aid bill that was passed by the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
He also blocked Senator Bernie Sanders' motion to vote on the bill and implement it immediately.
McConnell then introduced a bill combining the payment of additional stimulus, and President Donald Trump’s demand for the repeal of legal protections on social media companies as well as an investigation into allegations of election fraud.
According to McConnell, the Senate will first consider increasing stimulus payments along with other demands from President Trump.
McConnell's latest move is clearly causing dissatisfaction for Trump. In a tweet on his twitter page, Trump said policymakers should launch larger stimulus payments as soon as possible.
Trump also urged the Senate to meet its demands on election issues and technology companies.
