Speaking in an interview for Sky News, Shapps said that the UK is conducting a very extensive genome sequencing analysis (COVID-19) covering almost half of the world's total sequencing, making the emergence of new virus variations easy to detect quickly and the reality now it may be found in some other European countries.
This latest statement from Shapps may be true. This is because, in a recent report by Reuters, Italy has detected patients infected with a new strain of coronavirus also found in Britain.
The patient and his partner were rumored to have just returned from the UK a few days ago on a flight landing at Fiumicino airport, Rome and are currently in quarantine.
This in turn raises new concerns for the world that is still facing a steady increase in coronavirus cases.
Therefore, the threat from this new variant should not be left alone as it further increases the risk of faster transmission.
