The Ministry of Health expects at least one of the 12 companies developing the Covid-19 vaccine to submit its first clinical report next week.
However, the Director-General of the Ministry of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah did not reveal the name of the company he was referring to. In addition, the ministry will review the report before discussing its effectiveness.
In addition, the ministry is rumored to have not yet reviewed the official clinical report on any Covid-19 vaccine, which is the first step needed to approve approval for its use as a Covid-19 antidote, although Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has announced an agreement signed with Pfizer Inc to obtain 12.8 million doses of vaccine from the pharmaceutical company.
In addition, they have found as many as 12 vaccine companies currently in the three-phase clinical trials, but only managed to hold talks with those 10 companies.
Meanwhile, the company will also need to submit their report to the National Pharmaceutical Oversight Agency (NPRA) and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to obtain a license. If not licensed, the vaccine cannot be sold in Malaysia.
Not only that! Dr Noor Hisham also denied that Malaysia was the subject of a test or ‘laboratory rat’ for a new cure, instead a large amount of research and evaluation was required before approving any vaccine use.
