In a recent revelation, Top Glove Corp has fired one of its factory workers, Yubaraj Khadka for two photos showing all factory workers failing to comply with standard operating procedures (SOP).
Last May, the Nepalese took a photo of evidence showing the dumping of factory workers queuing at a distance of less than one meter during the temperature check before the night shift started.
The picture was then handed over to the workers' rights organization in his country and the Malaysian authorities without revealing the original owner of the picture for fear of being fired.
However, luck was not on Khadka's side when Top Glove managed to track down the original owner of the picture via CCTV footage and fired him on September 23.
There is no denying that the firm imposes the obligation on wearing gloves and faces among factory workers but outside the factory, compliance with social imprisonment is seen as a failure.
The spread of coronavirus outbreaks at several Top Glove factories and hostels around Klang carries the highest case record of over 5,000 infections with 94% of them being foreign nationals making Malaysia the largest cluster.
After reopening operations following the gradual closure starting November 23, Top Glove assured the frequency of sanitation of factories, offices, transportation and housing as well as upgrading workers' dormitories.
Today, the entire Top Glove is shocked by the death of one of its Nepalese employees, 29 due to coronavirus infection.
