The US $ 908 billion Covid-19 stimulus package will be presented to Congress today, according to sources close to the matter.

However, the package will be divided into two separate bills with the aim of getting Congress to approve the package.

The first package worth US $ 748 billion will focus on funds for small businesses, the unemployed and the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The second package covers a number of key issues such as liability protection for businesses and US $ 160 billion for state and local governments.

"The plan is still there and it is good and it is not possible, it is not possible that we will leave Washington without managing the emergency needs of our people," Democratic Senator Joe Manchin told Fox News.

Under the new stimulus package, US airlines will receive US $ 17 billion in four-month payroll assistance, public transit systems (US $ 15 billion), airports (US $ 4 billion) and Amtrak passenger railways receive US $ 1 billion.

Democrats and Republicans have been negotiating for months to reach an agreement on a new coronavirus bill after Congress approved a $ 3 trillion grant earlier this year.
