The new President of the United States (US), Joe Biden in his inaugural address yesterday stressed that the US will restore relations with its allies and re-engage with the world.
"We will restore relations with our allies and once again engage with the world not to face yesterday's challenges but today's and future challenges.
"We will lead not only by example using strength, but from the exemplary strength shown," said Biden as reported by Bernama.
Biden also vowed to be a strong supporter and can be expected for peace, progress and security.
He will also focus on efforts to 'reunite America' and call on the people to work together.
"Americans are able to make their country once again a world leader," he added.
Commenting further, Biden said his administration would address the issue of white supremacy and domestic violence.
"Now, there is an increase in political extremism, white supremacy, domestic violence that we have to face and deal with," he said.
At the same time Biden asked the US to end the ongoing dispute.
"We must end this division, the red faction against the blue, the liberals against the conservatives, the villagers with the city," he said.
Biden is also confident the US can fight the Covid-19 epidemic.
"We can definitely deal with the deadly virus," he said.
Biden is also expected to sign 17 executive orders that would repeal several policies of former President Donald Trump's administration, such as stopping the construction of the border wall, rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization, ending the Keystone XL pipeline project and lifting the Muslim travel ban.
Shortly before speaking, Biden was sworn in before Supreme Court Judge John Roberts.
