According to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, Pfizer will temporarily reduce the total dose of coronavirus vaccines sent to Europe temporarily. Based on the statement submitted by the authorities, the delivery of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be reduced from next week to the next period.
In addition, they expect to obtain 43,875 doses of vaccine from Pfizer in the 3rd week. However, they just got 36,075 doses.
However, Pfizer did not want to comment on the issue. For all intents and purposes, the temporary reduction in vaccine delivery is driven by increased production capacity.
Unfortunately, such a temporary reduction will affect all European countries.
Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla expressed his confidence that the company will be able to increase vaccine production this year with the aim of manufacturing up to 2 million doses.
He added that Pfizer now has more doses of vaccine than used.
Meanwhile, the European Union revealed that they doubled the stock of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines. Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, said the agreement would allow the EU to buy another 300 million doses of its existing stock. However, the EU executive has received criticism for not buying more vaccines.
