PERMAI Assistance Package Can Restore Malaysia!

 According to economists, the RM15 billion PERMAI aid package announced by the government today will help reduce the impact of Covid-19 transmission and the latest Movement Control Order (MCO 2.0) restrictions on first-quarter gross domestic product (GDP) growth while supporting recovery from the next second quarter. .


Based on a statement submitted by Sunway University Business School economist, Prof Dr Yeah Kim Leng, the PERMAI assistance package is a welcome initiative, especially for low-income households and affected businesses, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs).



Meanwhile, Datuk Michael Kang, president of the UKM Malaysia Association, said that the announcement was timely as the assistance could help defend the business at least for the short term.


For everyone's knowledge, the package consists of 22 initiatives to combat Covid-19, and is accompanied by 3 objectives, namely fighting epidemics, safeguarding the well-being of the people and supporting business continuity.


Among the assistance announced today includes the targeted loan payment moratorium and the reduction of installment payments will continue to be offered by banks during the implementation of MCO 2.0.
