India's technology ministry is urging Facebook Inc-owned WhatsApp to reverse the changes to its privacy policy announced earlier this month, claiming that the new terms affect the power of choice for Indian consumers.

The proposed changes allegedly raise serious concerns about the implications for the choices and autonomy of Indian citizens. Therefore, the company needs to withdraw the proposed changes.

However, WhatsApp does not want to submit any comments on the issue. Earlier, the company revealed that its new privacy policy update does not affect the privacy of users' messages with friends, family and in groups.

Accordingly, the company decided to postpone the launch of the new policy until May from February, after facing a lot of criticism of the new terms including in its largest market in India.
