The US is deliberately looking to have it

Two US-owned warships reportedly sailed in the waters of the Taiwan Strait today and are the second such mission this month.

The mission was carried out after several Chinese warships passed through the same waters two weeks ago.

According to a statement issued by the US Navy, warships USS John S. McCain and USS Curtis Wilbur have conducted regular voyages in the Taiwan Strait under international law.

"The ship's transit through the Taiwan Strait reflects the US commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific route. The US military will continue to fly, sail and operate wherever permitted by international law, ”the statement said.

China's Defense Ministry has so far not issued any statement on the issue.

China, which claims Taiwan as part of its territory, has denounced U.S. actions in support of Taipei, including selling weapons to Taiwan and sailing through the Taiwan Strait.

The action further aggravated the strained relations between the two countries.
