Companies in Britain are increasingly desperate for government emergency assistance and cannot wait until March, when Finance Minister Rishi Sunak will launch additional support.

In a letter sent to Rishi Sunak on Tuesday, the British Confederation of Industry (CBI) requested immediate action needed to help the firm survive, following the re-implementation of closures in the UK and companies also need to adjust to life after Brexit.

The group requested a government-sponsored employment support program, which was due to end in April, extended until the end of June and expected a commitment for targeted support thereafter.

They also want to see the sales tax payment deadline extended and extended business rate leave.

The CBI director general said that if the government plans to continue supporting companies, then they need to take action before the next budget is launched in early March.

The government has spent about £ 300 billion to fight Covid-19 and support workers and businesses, until the national debt exceeds £ 2 trillion for the first time.

Sunak has also repeatedly warned that current spending levels cannot survive in the long run.
