The price of gold traded slightly changed as trading headed over the weekend and was on track to record a monthly decline, amid the strengthening of the US dollar.

The gold spot declined at the opening of the European session, trading low at around $ 1,845 per ounce, while gold futures were slightly positive at $ 1,847 per ounce.

The precious metal at last Thursday's trading session soared after witnessing the gloomy US economic data.

The US economy is reported to grow by 4% in the fourth quarter of 2020 but this increase is not enough to prevent the economy from declining at the fastest rate in 70 years.

From year to year, US Gross Domestic Product (GDP) contracted by 3.5% by 2020, making it the first decline since 2009 and the most significant since 1946.

However, the yellow metal declined again after the greenback dollar traded again due to uncertainty in the equity market involving the Gamestop issue, leading to a major fall in US stocks.
