Several White House top officials, including national security adviser Robert O’Brien, are reportedly considering resigning following a pro-Trump aggression in Capitol Hill, USA on Wednesday, CNN reported.
O’Brien previously defended Vice President Mike Pence, who is currently chairing the confirmation session of the winner of the 2020 presidential election, saying Pence showed his courage despite pressure from President Donald Trump.
This follows Trump's tweet warning Republican leaders not to confirm Joe Biden's victory and putting direct pressure on Pence by urging him to do what he has to do.
Meanwhile, deputy national security adviser Matt Pottinger and deputy chief of staff Chris Liddell were also reportedly considering resigning.
Meanwhile, Melania Trump chief of staff Stephanie Grisham and deputy media secretary Sarah Matthews have submitted their resignation on Wednesday evening effective immediately following protests at the Capitol.
With less than 2 weeks left for the Trump administration to leave the White House on January 20, the president's behavior, which still denies the election results, seems to have made them decide to step down earlier.
