The President of the United States (US), Joe Biden has agreed to accept the proposal of a member of the House of Representatives of the Democrats to provide assistance of US $ 1,400 to the smaller and really needy people through the latest Covid-19 stimulus package.
The matter was revealed by close sources. The source also stated that Biden will change the total stimulus package worth US $ 1.9 trillion.
Biden told Democrats yesterday that he would not change the proposed amount of aid of US $ 1,400 because the people had been promised the value of the aid.
Earlier, Democrats and Republicans questioned whether the $ 1,400 in aid would be channeled to people who did not deserve it.
Some Democrats see the value of the aid as too much, thus 'allowing' Americans who are not economically affected when the Covid-19 pandemic receives government assistance.
Meanwhile, Republicans plan to reduce the value of the aid to US $ 1,000 for each adult individual and begin channeling payments to those earning US $ 40,000 a year or more as well as married couples earning $ 80,000 or more.
Adding the source, Democrats will compromise on some of the programs proposed in the latest stimulus package and are willing to change the overall value of the package.
According to White House Press Secretary Gen Psaki yesterday, Biden also did not expect his proposal in the package to be accepted unanimously.
"He knows that is part of the legal process," said Psaki.
