China criticizes US (US) allegations accusing Beijing of hiding some important information related to the Covid-19 outbreak from the World Health Organization (WHO) investigation team.
According to a statement issued by China yesterday, Beijing said the US had undermined international cooperation over Covid-19 and was now pointing fingers at other countries loyal to the WHO and the WHO itself.
"China welcomes US President Joe Biden's decision to withdraw the administration of former President Donald Trump to leave the WHO."
"However, China hopes the US will take a serious, serious, transparent and responsible attitude and support the work of the WHO with real action and make appropriate contributions to international cooperation in relation to Covid-19," the statement said.
Earlier, in a statement issued by White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, Washington was concerned about the initial findings of the study and questioned the process used throughout the Covid-19 research.
"It is very important for the report to be free from interference from the Chinese government.
"To understand more deeply about this pandemic and prepare for the next wave, China must provide its data from the early stages of the outbreak," Sullivan said, referring to the WHO's efforts to investigate the origins of the Covid-19 outbreak in Wuhan, China.
The WHO research team visited Wuhan for almost a month. They visited markets, hospitals and research centers including the Wuhan Virological Institute which is suspected to be the cause of pandemic transmission due to the collection of bat virus specimens stored there.
