Democrats continue to move forward to approve a $ 1.9 trillion coronavirus aid package, after a budget resolution was approved by the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday.
The passage of the measure facilitates Congress to move forward with an agreement, in which Democrats can pass a coronavirus stimulus bill without Republican support. The Senate is expected to approve the resolution later this week.
The resolution was passed by a 218-212 referendum, in which two Democrats opposed it, while no Republicans supported it. This reflects the bipartisan split in approving the coronavirus assistance package.
Using rules to prevent Republican parties in the Senate from delaying or blocking the package, it also means Democrats no longer need to offer concessions to make the deal a success.
The $ 1.9 trillion stimulus package proposed by President Joe Biden has previously met with opposition from Republicans, on the grounds that its value is too great, moreover Congress just approved $ 900 billion in aid in December.
The opposition prompted Republican Senators to propose a much lower alternative aid to Joe Biden and held a meeting last Monday. However, as a result of the meeting, Biden said the $ 618 billion proposal offered by Republicans was too small.
