While many are skeptical of the blockchain system that is the mainstay of cryptocurrency, California is taking the opportunity to explore the potential that the blockchain system has to offer. Based on the latest report, the new blockchain system will be used to manage and track the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic among students and staff at several schools in California.
The move became an option when a dispute arose as to how to balance the surveillance of Covid-19 transmission and at the same time protect personal information.
Thus, the California Collaborative Charter Service Organization, which provides administrative support services to schools, has chosen to roll out an administrative system that prioritizes privacy. The blockchain-oriented solution is named "Team.Care Network", developed by health startup Solve.Care and serves as a mobile application.
The organization states that their blockchain system can offer solutions in helping schools to detect the likelihood of transmission of Covid-19 in inhabited communities. According to Pradeep Goel, CEO of Solve.Care, lawmakers in California are increasingly aware of the importance of data privacy and they are in the process of creating laws to protect population data.
With a blockchain-based application, it will create a safer environment for students and school staff.
