Supermax Corp Bhd temporarily suspended operations at its production plant in Meru, Selangor for three days starting today following several positive Covid-19 cases involving its employees.
In a statement to Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the rubber glove manufacturer said the first case of the virus was believed to have originated from an external carrier, despite having implemented strict standard operating procedures (SOPs).
"The safety and well-being of workers and the local community is a priority in efforts to curb this spread.
"The temporary closure on February 10-12 is in line with efforts to minimize the risk of spreading the virus," he said as reported by Bernama.
Supermax also stressed that the company has conducted regular Covid-19 screening tests for foreign and local workers at all of its factories.
“Supermax also cooperates closely with the Ministry of Health and will continue to comply with the Covid-19 SOP that has been set.
"Efforts to disinfect all premises and dormitories of workers will also be continued more frequently by implementing all strict control measures," he said.
