Bursa Malaysia opened higher at the start of trading today, spurred by the momentum of buying when there was little uncertainty resulting in glove counters which were seen as still weak.
At 9.05am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI main index index (FBM KLCI) was up 4.48 points at 1,590.61 from 1,586.13 in late overnight trading.
Reported Bernama, the index of markers for that level reached 0.81 points at 1,586.94 in early trading today.
The market sentiment was positive with a profit counter overcoming a loss of 263 versus 178 when 299 counters did not change, 1.409 were not alerted and 14 others were hanged.
Total merchandise amounted to 252.86 million units worth RM149.42 million.
Meanwhile, Rakuten Trade said in a memorandum of inquiry that the main index was expected to test a face of 1.590 with slight uncertainty following sentiment towards the continued weak glove counter.
"Apart from that, the crude oil price is otherwise resilient with the price of Brent crude now steadily exceeding the level of US $ 60 which is US $ 61.10 a barrel at this time," he said.
The firm also believes that Brent crude is expected to break US $ 65 a barrel this year.
Meanwhile, high fair shares saw Maybank gain nine cents to RM8.04, PBBank to gain one cent to RM4.15, power gain four cents to RM9.74 while PChem was unchanged at RM7.56.
For active stocks, IRIS was down half a penny to 39 cents, DNex was up one cent to 37 cents, FPGroup was down nine cents at 96 cents while Kanger was down half a cent to 11 cents and Opcom was unchanged at 78 cents.
The lucky counter saw Nestle jump 30 cents to RM137.60, Hartalega added 20 cents to RM12.66 while Widetech was up 18 cents to 88 cents.
On the index board, the FBM Gold Index increased by 31.94 points to 11,591.64, the FBMT 100 Index lost 29.51 points at 11,314.32 and the Sharia FBM Gold Index rose 16.30 points to 13,071.07.
FBM 70 added 30.71 points to 15,171.99 and FBM ACE rose 3.52 points at 10,818.51.
By sector, the Financial Services Index jumped 101.09 points to 15,171.99, the Farming Index increased by 4.69 points to 7,152.41 and the Industrial Products and Services Index decreased by 0.25 points to 179.65.
