Oh no! The yellow metal is sluggish again

As the market heads into the European opening session, the yellow-gold metal held around $ 1,855 an ounce, recording a 0.2% decline in today's trading session.

The precious metal appears to be bearing the brunt of the impact of the US dollar movement which showed an uptrend after plunging early in the session.

The dollar index, which measures the strength of the greenback dollar against major currencies traded at 90.94, hovering around the six-week highs it reached in yesterday's trading session.

Meanwhile, hopes for the U.S. stimulus package to be implemented seem far-fetched, even after President Joe Biden met with Republican Senators to discuss alternative proposals previously proposed.

Although the meeting was said to be very productive, Biden said the proposed assistance was not enough to resolve the Covid-19 crisis and insisted on maintaining the proposed $ 1.9 trillion package in January.

Meanwhile, Democratic lawmakers are ready to continue the package approval process even without support from Republicans.
