Recent reports report that Thailand appears to be interested in attracting crypto holders in Japan to travel to Thailand. The government is considering creating a crypto-friendly tourist area and the first target country is the country of the rising sun.
According to a report by Per Bangkok Post, the Thai Tourism Board (TAT) is working to make Thailand the first country to welcome crypto holders from Japan for this early phase.
This program is to restore Thailand's tourism sector which was severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The program aims to increase spending.
After discussions with the Technology Promotion Association (Thailand-Japan), TAT finally decided that the Japanese crypto holder would be the first country. Yuthasak Supasorn, who is a strongman of TAT praised the crypto market and it is in line with Thailand's hopes of strengthening tourism in the post-epidemic era.
He added, ‘if we can prepare this country for the crypto market, it will open up more opportunities and increase spending among tourists.
Finally, he also joked that even Elon Musk might be interested in traveling in Thailand. This year, the Thai government is targeting 8 million tourists.
