Investors this week are gearing up for a hearing from Federal Reserve (Fed) Chairman Jerome Powell on his annual monetary policy report before Congress.

Powell's testimony will take place on Tuesday before the U.S. Senate Banking Committee and on Wednesday before the Financial Services Committee.

As markets have known before, Powell has repeatedly stressed that the central bank will continue to maintain current monetary policy to support economic recovery, especially after being shown weak employment data last month.

Powell is likely to evaluate the recently released economic data and state that the economy has not yet fully recovered and maintained accommodative monetary policy.

He is also expected to use his testimony to reiterate his call for additional fiscal measures from Congress to increase support for the Fed's monetary policy.

Other Fed officials recently proposed large fiscal packages, such as the proposed $ 1.9 trillion being debated in Congress, to be approved to support the economy.
