A total of two police reports were received regarding the fraudulent sale of Covid-19 vaccine, involving losses amounting to RM285,499.

Bernama reported that the matter was informed by the Director of the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department, Datuk Zainuddin Yaacob.

According to him, the case is currently being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

"Police detected a spread of information on social media regarding the sale of Covid-19 vaccine online and the sales service operator has issued a statement to deny the existence of the advertisement.

"However, the police do not rule out the possibility of false advertisements regarding the sale of the vaccine in the future," he said in a statement yesterday.

Zainuddin added that the distribution of Covid-19 vaccine will be implemented free of charge to the people of this country as announced by the government and therefore, any offer to sell the vaccine by any party is an irresponsible act and may be fraudulent.

In this regard, the police reminded the public to always be vigilant against the actions of irresponsible parties who try to take advantage.

"People are also advised to be sensitive to announcements and instructions issued by the government from time to time to ensure accurate information is obtained related to the vaccination program," said Zainuddin.

He said that his party is committed in carrying out continuous monitoring to detect or eradicate any party who tries to sell vaccines illegally online.
