 Shares of Berjaya Corporation Bhd (BCorp) jumped 17% following the appointment of former Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) Group President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Abdul Jalil Abdul Rasheed as its new group CEO.


At 11.25am, the company's shares rose three sen to 21 sen, making it among the 10 most active counters on Bursa Malaysia.


According to Bernama, about 153.5 million shares of industrial products and services changed hands in the early trading session.



Yesterday, BCorp in a statement said Abdul Jalil was given the mandate to review BCorp's corporate structure, optimize finances and human resources, improve synergies and efficiencies as well as aspects of corporate governance and transparency.


He is also entrusted to streamline the group's various businesses to create and enhance shareholder value as well as transform BCorp into a high performing organization.


Abdul Jalil has 18 years of experience in investment and business leadership besides having served in the United Kingdom, the United States, Malaysia and Singapore with global investment firms, Aberdeen Standard Investments and Invesco Ltd.
