The US-China top-level meeting in the first round under Biden’s rule turned so hot today. This happens when both sides criticize each other about the other party’s policies in public. Indirectly it causes bilateral tensions to occur.
Based on visits by U.S. officials in other countries it has been shown that the U.S. is taking a firm stance towards Beijing. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told China directly that the United States is very concerned about the issues that occur, including cyber attacks.
‘China has taken actions that threaten order based on rules enacted to maintain global stability.’ Antony continued.
The Biden administration has made it clear that they sincerely hope China can change their attitude, so that both sides can reorganize political and trade relations. As is well known, relations between China and the U.S. have become increasingly tense under the government of former president Donald Trump.
China’s top diplomat Yang Jiechi responded by denouncing the U.S. that the U.S. has treated minority countries badly. He also criticized U.S. foreign and trade policy.
"The United States is using its military power and financial hegemony to oppress other countries," Yang said
The market finds that there is still a long way to go and more efforts need to be made to see US-China relations recover.
