Countries in Asia and Europe appear to be facing tough challenges in meeting commitments to vaccinate their populations after there were issues arising from the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Recently, Thailand had to postpone the injection of Covid-19 AstraZeneca vaccine due to concerns about blood clots experienced by the recipients of the vaccine.

The move follows the action of the Danish authorities which temporarily suspended the use of the vaccine after there were several patients who developed blood clotting problems after receiving the injection.

In fact, even before that Austria took a similar step, where a nurse reportedly died of severe blood clotting problems after a few days of receiving injections.

However, according to the Danish Health Board in a statement, it has not been determined that the case of blood clots has anything to do with the vaccine.

Meanwhile, other countries, including France, said they would continue to use the vaccine on the grounds of the European Union (EU) drug regulator’s decision that it was still safe to use.

Spain also claims that so far, there is no possible link between vaccines and blood clotting cases.

On Wednesday, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said preliminary investigations showed that the Astrazeneca vaccine used in Austria was likely innocent of the nurse's death.
