Vaccine Issue- EU-UK Diplomatic Relations Worsening!

Britain today made a demand to the European Union to allow the shipment of orders of the Covid-19 vaccine despite tensions over the Astrazeneca vaccine manufacturer.

According to one EU official, ‘the UK is not to blame. The EU is also not to blame. ’But it’s about the AstraZeneca company that sells their vaccines excessively.

Having lagged behind on the issue of vaccine production compared to the UK and the United States (U.S.), EU leaders are expected to discuss a possible ban on vaccine exports to Britain at a summit on Thursday.

On Sunday yesterday, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson had tried to negotiate with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron to have an export ban plan dropped. Adding EU officials, AstraZeneca has told Brussels that the UK uses a clause in its supply contracts that prohibits vaccine exports until the British market receives an injection.

The EU has previously exported 35 million doses of the vaccine since the end of January including 10 million to the UK. However, the UK does not export vaccines again even though the UK has vaccine manufacturers by their side.

The European Union is currently in talks with Britain on the issue, but there are no further details yet. At the same time, there has not been any statement that the UK will retaliate against EU action.
