What is Theta (THETA)?

Youtube and Netflix, perhaps the world's most dominant video streaming platforms. But, did you know Theta has also started stealing attention especially in the crypto industry?

Theta is a decentralized (decentralized) user -powered video streaming network on the blockchain, Theta Network.

Launched in March 2019 by its founder, Mitch Liu, it introduces low-cost content delivery network costs of up to 80% by creating a peer-to-peer (P2P) network of users who share their bandwidth.

Theta aims to deliver video and gaming content at the best quality without buffering and making 4K, 8K and virtual reality (VR) technologies impossible for the entire ecosystem, including opening up opportunities for content creators to generate side income with token rewards.

Theta has two tokens: THETA and TFUEL. What is the difference between these two tokens?

THETA - the native token for the Theta protocol. THETA is able to play the role of a registrar and act as a validator or guardian node. It is also used to validate and generate blocks in Proof-of-Stake (PoS) algorithms.

The number of THETAs is limited to 1,000,000,000 tokens.

TFUEL - similar to ‘gas’ in Ethereum or NEO, TFUEL is the token responsible for transaction payments and interactions with smart contracts on the Theta network.

It can be generated with THETA bets or if viewers share content on the network to other viewers.

To date, several partners have agreed to work with Theta. Among them, KardiaChain, THETAtv, Google, Shout! Factory, LINE Tech Plus, Samsung VR, CJ Hello, Pandora TV, MovieBloc, playlabs, BTCUpload, Nervos and more.

Here are some of Theta's roadmaps for 2021:

+ Launch of decentralized exchange (DEX) on Theta blockchain

+ Launch of Theta app for Ledger and Trezor

+ Theta 3.0 mainnet launch

+ Edgecast V2 decentralized application streaming

+ Advanced Smart Contract V2 developer platform

In conclusion here, Theta is the answer to the problem of video content delivery on decentralized platforms. If its use is becoming more widespread and gaining popularity, it could be live streaming, replacing Youtube, TikTok, Netflix and more.
