The Better Malaysia Foundation (BMF) submitted several proposals to the government on affordable housing specifically for the low -income group of Malaysians, namely B40, earlier this month.

According to BMF founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan, the government is studying all the proposals.

"The proposal has been sent to the government, so I handed it over to the government," he said without commenting further on to whom the proposal was submitted or which ministry he meant.

Tan added that as reported by Bernama, he was also positive that the government would accept BMF's proposals and was aware that there were many technical matters that needed to be detailed in relation to the proposals.

He explained that the proposal, among others, includes a proposal for the government to guarantee loans for the B40 group to own a house, 100% financing as well as a longer financial period of up to 60 years for home loans.

Tan added that if the bank agreed to provide loans to B40, many home developers would build affordable homes and the situation was good for the country.

Earlier, media representatives were taken to visit the 900-square-foot house exhibition unit with five bedrooms and four bathrooms for the B40 family group designed by BMF.

The BMF recently launched a new social program to assist the government in addressing the home ownership aspirations of the country’s low-income citizens or B40 households.

The program aims to facilitate the construction of properties with low monthly cost of ownership, carefully planned so that the families involved can live prosperously and grow well.
