European Session Begins, Pound Suddenly Jumps

Entering the European session, the pound sterling currency returned to displaying gains after dropping to a two-month low in the previous session.

The pound sterling has posted lower losses in the last week, on doubts about going overboard in the UK's royal vaccination attempt to re-open the economy, amid recent tensions over Northern Ireland that have led to riots.

However, with the recent positive developments between the UK and the European Union (EU) reaching an agreement on the issue of Northern Ireland, it has done little to help support the pound's gain.

The progress made in talks between the two sides has raised breeders' hopes that tensions in Northern Ireland will ease.

In addition, this increase also got a boost from the depreciation of the US dollar, with the dollar index trading around 92.12 against most major currencies following the limited moves in the US 10-year treasury yield.

The publication of the UK's In-Coarse Country Output (KDNK) data on Tuesday evening will be the concern of investors who are expected to record an increase in February.
