China-US Once Again Argue Tongues Over Covid-19

China condemned the actions of the United States (US) which wanted to conduct further investigations into the link of laboratories in China to the cause of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden said he wanted to release the results of the intelligence agency's report on the origins of Covid-19 within 90 days.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry claimed that the move was a political manipulation and that the US was trying to blame others.

The ministry also ruled out any link between Covid-19 and a virus research laboratory in Wuhan, China.

According to the ministry's spokesman, Zhao Lijian, the US does not care about facts or truth and is not interested in serious science-based study of origins.

"Their goal is to use the pandemic to pursue stigmatization, manipulate politics and blame others. They do not respect science, are not responsible for the lives of others and are not productive in joint efforts to fight the virus, ”he explained.

Lijian added that US intelligence agencies also have a ‘black history’ of disseminating inaccurate information.

Speculation about the Wuhan Institute of Virology, one of China’s leading virus research laboratories began to erupt early last year and was spread by former US President Donald Trump.

Covid-19 was first detected in Wuhan in late 2019. Since then, more than 168 million cases have been reported worldwide and about 3.5 million deaths have been recorded.

Chinese authorities linked the initial case of Covid-19 to a seafood market in Wuhan, leading scientists to believe that the virus was spread to humans through animals.

Earlier, the World Health Organization (WHO) said it was ‘impossible’ for the virus to spread from a leak in a laboratory. The conclusions were drawn after WHO officials visited Wuhan earlier this year to investigate the origins of the coronavirus spread.

According to the WHO, the virus may have been transmitted from bats to humans through other intermediate animals but the theory needs more research.
